The Magnolia grandiflora is a large evergreen tree whose origins can be traced back to prehistoric times. It has the ability to adapt to different surroundings while keeping its own distinct character, a rare gift that echoes the history of Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. An impressive Magnolia grandiflora also graces the façade of Villa Medici di Castello. The species arrived in Florence in the 18th century and was soon cultivated on the Medici family estate.
