Scents of summer

Some fragrance creations stand head and shoulders above the rest. They earn compliments, but they also bring that happy moment of calm, warmth and the carefree feeling of a well-earned holiday. Which scent combination is your favourite this summer?

White flowers with pear

The makers of Altaia’s Amank’ay set out to capture the striking beauty of southern Argentina in the Amank’ay, the ‘flower of love’. The scent is built on bright, fresh notes of white blossom alongside lotus flower and nashi pear.

Fig with sea salt

Hydra Figue by Miller Harris is full of summery ingredients and takes you straight to a peaceful island in the Aegean Sea. The scent is that classic Greek blend of dry wood, sweet fig, sea salt and Mediterranean citrus, with a refined, spicy touch of saffron and, how could it be otherwise, a distinctive ouzo accord.

Citrus with green tea

Mediterraneo by Carthusia evokes sun, summer and a lighter way of living, whatever the season. The Mediterranean freshness of citrus leaves, combined with the soothing notes of green tea, makes this sun-drenched scent lovely to wear even in winter.

Lemon with lavender

L’Eau Pâle by Courrèges captures the scent of a Mediterranean island as the sun goes down. The ethereal aroma of benzoin resin melts into the aquatic notes of the cooling sea. The scent of lemon peel deepens in the evening, and lavender drifts up as a soft breeze arrives towards midnight.

Sesame with citrus

Kedu is a plain in Indonesia encircled by a volcano. The soil is highly fertile thanks to the volcanic ash and is held sacred by those who live there. Tradition has it that at Kedu you can cleanse your soul by casting sesame seeds into the flaming domes. That roasted sesame aroma returns in the fragrance of the same name, alongside mandarin, grapefruit and white musk.

Iso-E Super with ginger

Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules owes its popularity to a single accord not found in nature: Iso-E Super. This synthetic molecule, with its warm cedarwood note and velvety-soft feel, is paired in the Molecule+ collection with one other distinctive ingredient. Molecule 01+ Ginger brings the spicy character of ginger, drawn from the rhizome of the ginger plant.

Citrus with musk

Gin Fizz is a fresh, floral cocktail of citrus notes over a musky base, reminiscent of the festive cocktail of the same name, one that can happily be ‘drunk’ by day as well as in the evening.

Cedarwood with fig

Cèdre Figalia by Atelier Materi contains three kinds of cedarwood, each lending its own nuance and character to the scent. The combination of these three varieties sits harmoniously with fig and uplifting notes of bergamot and basil, kindled by the spicy facets of allspice.
