Combining allantoin extract with glycerine, it has a surprisingly light, gel-like texture. Allantoin is much loved in the cosmetics world for its moisture-retaining, skin-protecting qualities. It also has a subtly exfoliating effect, gently removing dead skin cells so the hands look and feel softer and more supple. Today the collection spans care products for the face, body, hair, hands and feet, in lovely fragrances and playful colours. The formulations draw on natural ingredients grown under the Portuguese sun, such as lemon, rose and aloe vera. The playful, vintage Art Deco packaging, like some of the recipes, has remained almost unchanged over the course of a century.
